A man sits down the way from anything that would be his usual crowd. alone in this smoky bar where the hours have no meaning & the faces that are there don't share their names lightly
He puts down an other glass in a usual way & speaks in a voice to quiet to be heard by any who didn't really want to hear
He says
" I am a stranger & I want to confess "
" I am boastful with a pride that I can not digest"
" I die for the sins I did not commit but wanted to "
" I love to well for my own wealth " " To long in the light that sines from those who only want to be friends I did not see it makes them cold "
" I thought to be what they want me to be "
" I give them license to see me in my flaws & they rightly grow to hate me for it "
" It is a vanity I ought not expose. "
The man then gets up & walks across the seedy stained boards to the farthest door & as he dose he passes a woman who knows the smoky shadows of this bar all to well
With a usual, less than really concerned, tone she challenges his passing
She asks "So what was all that supposed to mean to anybody any way?"
The man replies in his usual voice before he moves through the open door & out of site
" I was hopen' you might, hit me with that pool stick ? " " Or cut me with a broken bottle ?.. "
" All I know for sure is .. " " I don't deserve the pain I got, either "
